On July 13th, Oregon Walks and its core partners–Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO), Unite Oregon, and Verde–hosted the first 82nd Ave Coalition meeting since the official transfer of 82nd Ave from the State of Oregon to the City of Portland. The group of 30 people shared stories of their experiences on/around 82nd Ave, what issues and ideas inspired them to join the conversation, and potential actions and activities the coalition could pursue.

The coalition is open to all and is made up of business owners, neighbors, and staff from various community-based organizations. Oregon Walks views this coalition as a true mix of voices and life experiences. This diversity will bring strength to the group and depth to its voice.

For media coverage of this event, see Bike Portland’s article here.
