Portland has declared another climate emergency, making trees more important than ever to creating a healthy, climate-resilient city. Join Trees for Life Oregon for a walk on and around NE 102^nd Avenue to learn about the potential for increasing tree canopy there despite a highly challenging urban environment. We will talk briefly about the environmental history of 102^nd and other major north-south corridors in East Portland and share our recommendations for how to increase shade trees along high-traffic streets such as 102^nd and in adjacent areas.  We’ll share what actions residents can take to get the city to incorporate big shade trees into its plan for this major East Portland north-south corridor.
