Sometimes when we visit streets like 82nd we only see the challenges in front of us (which there are many!). However, there are neighborhood and community gems just past the whizzing cars that make this place special. Check out some of Noel’s favorite parks and trails just past 82nd Avenue. Includes a former landfill turned native plant haven and Buddhist center; three fantastic parks (Hancock Park, Glenhaven Park & Rose City Golf Course); and the newly remodeled and renamed Leodis V. McDaniel High School (Noel’s alma mater). This route includes trails so it is not ADA accessible. All crossings of 82nd Ave. are at signals. Take a shortcut at Leodis McDaniel and walk down 82nd Ave. – there are two new pedestrian crossings to get back over to Hancock Park.
